The Group was presented with an award for its work on the Middlesbrough Family Intervention Project (FIP), as part of the Government's Respect Action Plan.

Winning the Respect category of the North East Awards, jointly presented by the National Housing Federation and the Housing Corporation, comes after Home Secretary John Reid paid a personal visit to the project in April. The Middlesbrough FIP is run with Middlesbrough Council and works with families from the area who present their communities with anti-social behaviour problems, resulting in potential eviction.

Charter Mark is the recognised standard for benchmarking customer service excellence in the public and voluntary sector. TVHL is one of only six organisations out of 800 monitored by Charter Mark Assessment Services, the examining body, to achieve full compliance against all indicators in the Charter Mark accreditation process when tested in April 2007

This success resulted in the following comment from the Charter Mark Assessment Services organisation: "Your service is meeting, or, in the areas of best practice exceeding, all requirements of the Charter Mark criteria. This is an indication of great commitment and an excellent service from the members of staff involved in your service, many congratulations."

The third accolade came as Tees Valley Housing Ltd was re-accredited with the Big Tick for 2007 in the Business in the Community Awards. This recognised TVHL’s Housing and Community Investment Agency submission in the BUPA Healthy Communities category.

This further endorses TVHL’s strategic move from being a registered social landlord, to a community investment agency with a broader remit that covers all aspects of life in the areas it serves.
