Christmas Housing Cheer in Hartlepool
RESIDENTS in Hartlepool will be celebrating Christmas in style after moving into newly-refurbished flats.
Tees Valley Housing has given its previously unpopular bedsits and flats at Hutton Court a facelift after the company found the properties were in need of a revamp.
Now following the work, new life has been breathed into the homes and the now modern flats are all occupied and anti-social behaviour in the area has been reduced.
Resident Sharon Owens, said: "The flats are lovely, I am over the moon. I am pleased to be in somewhere this nice, especially before Christmas."
Work carried out by Erimus Building Services, the in-house building and maintenance team of partner Erimus Housing, included converting six bedsits into three two bedroom flats and refurbishing the one and two bedroom flats in the scheme, including equipping them with new kitchens and bathrooms.
Space in the properties has been improved and they have been given a new look externally, including work to the roof and guttering, as well as security improvements such as enhanced lighting and lockable gates.
Doug Ross, Managing Director of Tees Valley Housing, part of Fabrick Housing Group, said: "This scheme was not about building new properties, it was about changing our previously unpopular stock into desirable accommodation to meet the housing needs of local people.
"These homes have now been completely turned around and are creating a thriving community.
"By making changes, we hope to have made a positive improvement to the quality of life of people in this community and we wish all the new residents a very happy Christmas in their new homes."
