Mascot House, Newcastle
Mascot House is a TVHL sheltered accommodation
scheme for Chinese people over the age of 60
in the central area of Newcastle and is made
up of 30 one bedroom, two person properties.
The scheme has communal landscaped gardens at the rear and is situated close to local amenities, Chinatown, bus stops, a newsagent, doctor and local supermarket.
The scheme has a Chinese speaking warden who is available from Monday to Friday.

Tai Hua Court, Middlesbrough
Tia Hua Court is made up of 14 two bedroom,
three person apartments, two two bedroom, three
person wheelchair accessible apartments, and
four two bedroom four person apartments. The
scheme has a garden, a conservatory, and a roof
patio.
The scheme was designed in consultation with the Chinese community and the architect for the scheme, Jully Chang, who is Chinese, was an indispensable part of the process in ensuring the scheme met with the Chinese cultural aspirations.
Although the scheme has been developed to general needs standard, all 20 apartments have been let to people over the age of 50 and ten are over the age of 70. The majority of people at the scheme can only speak Chinese and are unable to communicate with non-Chinese speaking people.
In addition, Tees Valley Housing has appointed a Chinese speaking caretaker to undertake general duties at the scheme.
