Extra Care Schemes
Extra Care housing aims to enable older people to remain independent for as long as possible by providing self contained accommodation with support, care services and community activities on site. The schemes are available to people aged 55 and over with support needs.
Tees valley Hosuing has three schemes and each has extensive communal facilities including a guest room for visitors, a restaurant, a craft shop, hairdressing facilities, laundry and a landscaped garden. The schemes have a dedicated care team of around 12-15 staff members who provide direct care to residents.
Pennyman House in North Ormesby, Middlesbrough, opened in summer 2007.
The scheme is ideally situated in the heart of North Ormesby, adjacent to the market square and a medical village, there is easy access to local shops, bus stops and places of worship. There are 42 apartments (11 one bedroom and 31 two bedroom). All apartments are carpeted, have level access showers and are wheelchair accessible. In addition four apartments have specific disabled adaptations. Housing management and support is provided on site.
Barnaby House in Eston, Redcar and Cleveland, opened in summer 2008.
The scheme is ideally located close to Eston town centre with easy access to local shops, bus stops, places of worship, library and doctors. There are 40 apartments (nine one bedroom and 31 two bedroom). All apartments are carpeted, have level access showers and are wheelchair accessible. In addition two apartments have been specific disabled adaptations.There is a housing management service onsite five days per week.
Meadowfield House, Thornaby, Stockton opened in Feb 2012.
It is close to Thornaby town centre with easy access to local shops, bus stops, GP’s and places of worship. It has 42, two bed apartments. All are carpeted, have level access showers and are wheelchair accessible. In addition to this four have specific disabled adaptations. There is a housing management service onsite five days per week.
If you need care but value your independence and privacy, think about extra care housing. It could be the option for you.
