Young People Leaving Care (Stockton-on-Tees)

Fairway, Spring Street, Stockton-on-Tees

Fairway is a joint initiative between Tees Valley and Stockton-on-Tees Social Services Department.

Fairway opened in April 2000 and offers accommodation with 24 hour care and support for up to six young people aged between 16 to 19, leaving the care of the local authority.

Fairway is a large, purpose built property, set in a residential community, close to the centre of Stockton-on-Tees, providing six single rooms with ensuite bathrooms and shared facilities, including lounge, kitchen and dining room.

Fairway aims to provide support to enable them to gain the necessary life skills and knowledge to live independently and sustain their own tenancies in the future. Key working is provided by the staff.

In consultation with the young person and social worker, staff members at Fairway periodically review the support plan to identify skills, needs and personal development. Also, when the time is right implement and assist a planned move into more independent living, usually through our Floating Support Scheme.

It is expected that each resident will stay for approximately one year; however, this will vary depending on each individual’s circumstances.

Referrals should be made via the Young Person’s Team Manager at Stockton Social Services Department or directly to Fairway. All applicants that are referred to the poject must have a local connection with Stockton-on-Tees.

Application forms are available from Stockton Social Services or Fairway (01642 359005). You can download our brochure here.
