Young People Leaving Care (Stockton-on-Tees)
Fairway, Spring Street, Stockton-on-Tees
Fairway is a joint initiative between Tees Valley and Stockton Borough Council.
Fairway opened in April 2000 and offers accommodation with 24 hour care and support for up to six young people aged between 16 to 19, leaving the care of the local authority.
Fairway is a large, purpose built property, set in a residential community, close to the centre of Stockton-on-Tees, providing six single rooms with ensuite bathrooms and shared facilities, including lounge, kitchen and dining room. There is disabled access.
Fairway aims to provide support to enable them to gain the necessary life skills and knowledge to live independently and sustain their own tenancies in the future. Support is provided by the staff.
In consultation with the young person and social worker, staff members at Fairway periodically review the support plan to identify skills, needs and personal development. Also, when the time is right implement and assist a planned move into more independent living, usually through our Floating Support Scheme.
It is expected that each resident will stay for approximately one year; however, this will vary depending on each individual’s circumstances.
Alll referrals for Fairway come through Stockton Council leaving care team and a panel decides who will be offered a place.
Application forms are available from Stockton Social Services (01632 393939) or Fairway (01642 359006). You can download our leaflet here.
