Moving On
If your current home is no longer suitable or if you are considering moving to another property, please always contact us first. We may be able to help you find another property or perhaps address any other issues you may have. You can contact our customer service centre and a member of staff will arrange for you to talk about your situation with a housing officer. Please contact us on 08000 461600.
Transfers
It may be possible to register for a transfer from one Tees Valley Housing property to another. For more information on where we have properties, please click on the link below.
Alternatively, you can contact your housing officer or customer services on 08000 461600.
Mutual Exchanges
Another option if your present home is no longer suitable is to make an application to mutually exchange. This means tenants swap their current home with another Tees Valley Housing tenant or a tenant with another housing association or local authority. To End Your Tenancy
If we are still unable to help you and you still want to end your tenancy, you must:
- Contact us in writing or by phone and give four weeks notice
- Your notice period starts on a Monday
- We will send out a termination form which you must complete and sign
- Your housing officer will then contact you to make arrangements to inspect your property
- Your housing officer will also be able to give you any advice or help you may need about benefits, gas and electricity supplier.
Golden Goodbye Scheme
We now operate a golden goodbye scheme. The aim of this scheme is to reward outgoing tenants for ending their tenancy correctly. The reward is a £50 gift voucher.
To qualify for the golden goodbye, you must:
- Give Tees Valley Housing four weeks notice in writing of your intention to terminate your tenancy
- Allow access for a pre-termination property inspection to be carried out
- Allow access for accompanied viewings while you are still in the property
- Leave the property in excellent condition
- Have a clear rent account when you end your tenancy
Providing all the above criteria are met, the reward will be approved and posted to your new address.
